the process of photographing jewelry.
It has been several months since I opened my Etsy Shop, Earthy By Design to sell jewelry. To be perfectly honest, I had no idea what I was getting into!
In the perfect world, you spend most of your time doing what you love, then put your art online, and suddenly you are overwhelmed with orders, and you are no longer a starving artist.
Well we don't live in a perfect world, and I am still in the classification of starving artist supported by a loving husband.
When trying to make it online, with the fierce competition learning to take good photographs of your work is an absolute. I have gone through a big learning curve and am still learning but thought I would share what I do.
My photos are decent but as everything goes, I am continually striving for improvement.
The portable photo cube pictured above really helped me improve my photos. With jewelry being small, this works out well. It was purchased on Amazon for about $28- a good investment.
My lighting is just a lamp with 3 lights that are positionable- it provides more than enough light for my needs right now.
My old iphone4 is my photography equipment. When I upgrade my phone, my pictures will be better.
SO there you have it! Not a complicated process, not perfect but the photographs I get are acceptable. As I continue to learn, this process will improve as well.
