1: Earthy Style: Use an Old Rake
It is so much fun when you find that amazing piece of jewelry that was just what you didn't know you were looking for!
You bring it home and suddenly realize, you have closet full of equally fabulous finds. Only one problem- it's all piled in one big jumbled and tangled mess-- you don't even know what you have anymore.
Well here are some cleaver ideas of ways to sort through you gems and put them on display.
I have picked out 5 of what I think are cool, artsy ways to showcase your gems. Tell me which one you like best, or better yet add an idea that works for you!
2: Industrial Style: Old Pipes
Here is another cool idea that can be made from recycling old pipes, for that industrial chic look. Your jewelry can easily slide on and off and you can make it to the size you need- some parts for necklaces, others for bracelets.
3: Modern Style: CD Rack
If you don't have one of these old CD racks sitting around the house, they are easy and cheap enough to find at your local thrift store. They make hanging earrings a cinch, and depending on the size of the rack you use, it can hold a ton of earrings.
4: Recycle Style: Old Picture Frame
I must have over a 100 old frames in my studio that I have collected for art work. The frames pile up quicker than I can create a piece to put in it. So here is a great way for me to recycle some of those pieces.
This idea uses chicken wire attached to the back of a frame. I have made a few, and be forewarned- you need a heavy duty staple gun to attach the chicken wire to the frame and for me, a lot of elbow power. But in the end it was worth it. You can finish it off with a fabric backing if you want to add another element to the design.
This is great for hanging hook earrings, and they go on and off easily if your chicken wire holes are big enough.
If you use this for necklaces, then you need some kinds of hooks, so I stick to earrings.
5: Towel Rod & Show Curtain Rings
I like this idea because you can slide the hooks apart to make them as wide as you need the space. Also it is easy to get your jewelry on and off.
I prefer to not put more than one necklace on a hook to keep things from getting tangled together, but that's just me
Well I hope these ideas have given you some inspiration- a quick look around the house can often spark an idea of something you can use to help you organize your gems so you can find what you are looking for and keep your pieces in good shape.
